All aspects of the German society was being controlled by Nazi regime. During this period, the non-Nazi organisations that had sufficient power to influence the public, especially other political parties, were banned. All organisations that the Nazis were unable to disband, were brought under their control, such as the education system.

Gleichschaltung also included the beginning of various organisations, which supported the Nazi ideology, with compulsory membership. The organisations were for all different sections of the German society. The Youth were separated into groups that were dependent on age and gender. They were to be known collectively as the Hitlerjugend (HJ), or the Hitler Youth.
